Soul Care

Life doesn't always go the way we hoped. Losses accumulate, relationships fracture, and seasons of suffering can leave us disoriented, wondering where God is in the middle of it all. At Hope Community Church, we believe you were never meant to carry these burdens alone—and that the gospel has something real to say to the ache you're carrying, not just the sin you struggle with.

Soul Care is our church's ministry of walking alongside one another through life's hardest moments. Whether you're wrestling with grief, stepping into a disorienting new season, or simply need someone to listen well and pray with you, our trained lay caregivers offer a place to bring your story honestly—and to trace, together, how Christ meets us even here.

Individual Soul Care

Meet one-on-one with a trained lay caregiver who will listen well, bear witness to your story, and pray with you as together you trace God's redemptive care through the chapters of your life. We anticipate 4-6 one on one meetings over a 1-3 month time period. [Link to care request form].

Group Soul Care

Join a small group led by trained lay facilitators, where honest, vulnerable sharing is met with gentle Gospel wisdom and the steady presence of others walking alongside you.

Grief group

Loss touches every corner of life—not only the death of a loved one, but also the quiet griefs of lost health, broken relationships, unmet expectations, or a life that isn't what we hoped. This group offers a space to bring these experiences of suffering honestly into the light, naming what has been lost and how it has shaped us. You're invited to consider your grief in the company of others, learning to hold your sorrow alongside the hope and comfort found in Christ, who draws near to the brokenhearted. Sign up for this group through Midweek Formation.

First time moms

For moms bringing home their first child—through birth or adoption—in this first year of stepping into a new role, dependent on and sustained by the God who is faithful. Being a new mom can bring joys and challenges! Hope's Soul Care Ministry wants to support new moms during their transition into motherhood. New moms, we want you to see Christ in the midst of your transition and to feel valued, encouraged, and supported by our church body in one of the most important roles God calls you to.

Lay Volunteers

Are you interested in receiving training to be considered to serve as a caregiver?

We are dependent on volunteers who want to develop their gifts to come alongside others. Volunteers are equipped to be humbly present, listen well and walk alongside people in their pain.

Whether or not you want to join the Soul Care team as a volunteer, we welcome anyone wanting to learn more about Soul Care to participate in one of our classes.

Join our next training in January 2027 as we humbly consider what it means to bear with one another in love and to offer wise, Christ-centered care to those who suffer. To find out more email care@hopecommunitykc.org
