Touch a life on the other side of the world

Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational, evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ. The organization serves the church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We, at Leawood Baptist Church, are privileged to take part in what Samaritan's Purse is doing through Operation Christmas Child. By simply filling a shoe box with toys we are able to impact the life of a child far away. We may never know until heaven the way God used our feeble efforts. View the sections below to see how we have done in previous years.

2017 Shoebox ministry

Each year, Leawood Baptist collects donations and assembles shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, one of the many ministries of Samaritan's Purse. The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Shoeboxes, filled with Christmas toys and goodies, are collected yearly during the third week in November.

2016 Operation Christmas Child

Our church collected 90 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child in 2016. Besides families supplying boxes, our children's Sunday School classes put shoe boxes together to send to children who may never have heard the name of Jesus. Before the boxes were sent off, the whole church prayed for the children who would be receiving them. Who knows what God may do in the world though our humble prayers?
